Job Title: lab tech
Department: Laboratory
Reports To: Director
FLSA Status:

  • Manages operations of patient samples with regards to in-house and outsourced lab-work.

General Accountabilities

  • process all incoming and outgoing lab request
  • familiar with use of both chemistry machines as well as how to do dilutions if needed
  • ability to read sample slides and log findings in appropriate location on patients electronic medical record.
  • log outgoing samples and attach results as the become available onto the patients electronic medical record.
  • go over results with clients after doctors review and notations have been made.
  • perform required maintenance on all lab equipment
  • keep a count of all inventory within the lab; adding inventory needed to the want list
  • ability to stain and read sample slides as directed according to training

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Associate’s Degree Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
  • Minimum Experience: 3 Years Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience
  • Minimum Field of Expertise: ALT Certification and experience in veterinary hospital kennel or animal research laboratory
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Preferred Experience: 5 Years
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Biological Science degree, ALT Certification and experience in veterinary hospital kennel or animal research laboratory
