Purpose: This document outlines the policies and procedures involved in lab sample drop offs brought
to EBH by clients.
Scope: All hospital staff
Procedure:
- To be considered eligible for a sample drop off,
1.1. A patient must have an established doctor-patient relationship AND a doctor needs to be aware
of the reason why the sample is being brought in;
1.2. Or they should have an upcoming appointment already scheduled.
1.2.1. It is vital that the client is aware that if the appointment is canceled, we cannot release
the final lab result interpretations, nor any potential diagnoses or treatment
recommendations. - All sample drop offs require payment before being brought to lab.
2.1. Payment can be made ahead of time or at the time of drop off.
2.2. The charge for the lab must be submitted on the day the sample is provided. - Confirm the correct fecal/urinalysis charge is being applied to the account.
3.1. Reference the doctor’s notes when necessary to confirm the appropriate charge to apply to the
patient’s PVL.
3.2. Print the lab request sheet to accompany the sample to the lab.
