I was so scared for my bird when I took here. He was sick and swallowed some pieces of a zipper. I thought for sure he was going to die.
The Vet was and techs were very reassuring and made us feel so much better, giving us hope for our loved one. Sure enough, he got better! He is with us today. They called us every day with updates and treatment plans. I'm so glad we found this place.

I cannot recommend them highly enough. As a pet parent who manages complex medical needs for multiple animals, I have high standards for clinical care- and this team exceeded every single one a thousand times over.
I am new to the area, and brought in my senior guinea pig for what I hoped was just some bloodwork and a thyroid issue. Unfortunately, during the exam they found a mass. Immediately other vets were brought in, second opinions shared, all the tests she needed were done the same day, and we walked out with a diagnosis and a surgical plan. What was supposed to be a short visit stretched well past their time limit, but they were so unbelievably kind and worked me into their very busy schedules. They also had such a patient, wonderful vet tech who sat with me the whole time, answered questions, and kept a very dark moment light enough for me to hold it together. These women (who had never met me) sacrificed their time and energy to not only understand what my baby was going through, but ensured I walked out with that diagnosis and a plan. I had a million questions, but they answered every single one- even well after hours.
We are currently in the critical window leading up to her surgery, and the peace of mind I have knowing she is in their hands is a testament to their skill. It is rare to find a team that combines elite medical expertise with such selfless, genuine heart. To the vet tech and the vets who were so thorough, and stayed late to build our plan: thank you for treating my baby like she was your own.
You have gained a lifelong client. If you are looking for a veterinary team that will truly fight for your pet, look no further. They are the gold standard- if I could give a million stars I would ⭐️

Dr. Hipkiss and the staff at Exotic Bird Hospital have been so amazing over the last month treating my cockatiel Sully who had an infection! They have been extremely thorough, called me everyday with updates, and did their best to make Sully comfortable while he stayed at the hospital. They have even gone out of their way to fit me in for a last minute appointment on a busy Saturday. I can’t say thank you enough and am extremely grateful to have them here in Jax!

This is the BEST place hands down to take your winged family member to! Everyone is very knowledgeable and super friendly and very nice. They really do care here. The veterinarian and her assistant where super awesome in handling our mean little buddy. He did 1000 times better here and didn't freak out like he did at the other places. We will never take our winged family member anywhere else!! We absolutely loved it. It's super cool inside and there's even a little store to buy your little buddy whatever they need! If your not coming here, then your going to the wrong place!! Thank You so much and we hope this helps other Exotic bird families make the right choice when getting the right care!! 😉

Dr. Colbert has been taking care of my parrots and reptiles since I moved to Jacksonville 3 years ago. He’s incredibly thorough and handles all my animals with care and professionalism. Every visit is stress-free, and it's clear he’s passionate and knowledgeable about exotic pets. I trust him completely. The whole team is friendly, helpful, and always goes above and beyond. I wouldn’t take my animals anywhere else!

I recently brought my bearded dragon in for a check-up after a few years, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience at this clinic. The staff were incredibly helpful, kind, and knowledgeable, all without a hint of judgment. Dr. Colbert went above and beyond—he came in to discuss my beardie’s care, offered great advice on improving my setup, and even showed me photos of products and where to find them. I also had blood work done for my bearded dragon, and the process was smooth and reassuring. The staff explained everything clearly, making me feel confident that Nami was in great hands. It was clear Dr. Colbert genuinely cares about the animals and takes his time during the entire exam. I felt truly seen and comfortable, and I’ll definitely be bringing Nami back here. I’m so relieved to have finally found a vet like this for my bearded dragon :)

Just editing my og post because I can’t leave a second review :( again, This place is amazing with helping you with your animal. I unfortunately had to bring Nami in for an emergency appointment and he passed away due to heart issues. This entire process was incredibly sad and stressful but the staff here, and especially Dr.Colbert were amazing through out it all. They let me come in for the emergency appointment, which cost 350 I think but they refund you anything that doesn’t exceed that by the end. Dr.Colbert made sure to let me know my options and explain everything, even making Nami comfortable as we helped him pass on. I didn’t feel rushed, pressured, or uniformed. We did an autopsy and further testing with a pathologist for Nami to see what went wrong and the time he took and explanation Dr.colbert gave me for it, is what really helped me in my grief. The process for cremation, how gentle staff treated me on the phone, option for a clay handprint and everything was so heartfelt, personal, and it came out amazing. They even let me take my time till I was ready to come pick up him. Thank you so much to all of you here 💕

What a great hospital! The vet Dr. Tony Colbert is very knowledgeable about reptiles and birds. He owns them as well. They call me to remind me it's time for my skink to come in. The staff are so nice and accommodating. Thank you so much !

Took my girl in for a check-up. The staff was very friendly and provided the information I needed to help keep my baby happy and healthy. I highly recommend bringing your exotic babies here.

Had to take my bearded dragon in today for a little checkup on her tail. They were able to get me in the same day, and everyone was so kind, so friendly to my dragon, and so knowledgeable. I learned a lot from the staff and the vet! Highly recommend.

I’ve been taking my cockatiel Rory here for about a year since we moved to Jax and I have nothing but good things to say about Exotic Bird Hospital. Dr. Stevenson and Dr Smith are both excellent vets and I trust them to take the best care of my little baby. Jammy & Faith are the techs that I deal with the most and they always go above and beyond to make sure Rory is taken care of. The first time I brought Rory in was for an emergency and Faith was the first person I met. She was so compassionate towards Rory and myself and I will never forget her kindness and care. Not only do I take Rory here for vet visits but I also board him here when I’m out of town. It makes me feel so much better about leaving knowing that he’s getting top tier love and attention from everyone. They truly love your animals like they’re their own.

I had an amazing first vet experience with Dr.Stevenson and vet tech Jammy were so patient with my questions. They explained everything thoroughly and put me (and my bird) at ease! The entire staff loved on my boy and made us feel welcome. Very reasonable prices for exotic care, and so nice that they have toys/perches/food in-house! Will definitely be back for future care, beak/nail trims, and even toys!
